With the advent of new technologies and the primary aim to give access to Basic Education for our Filipino (OSCYA)
Overseas migrants/ workers who long to finish secondary level of education, Alternative Learning System for
Honing Overseas and Revitalized Educands (ALSHORE) is born.
The Division of Davao del Sur has launched the Project ALShore on August 16, 2023 at 1:00 in the afternoon at Barayong National High School campus, Barayong, Magsaysay, Davao del Sur. This division- initiated project aims to help the learners who had no access to formal education. The program is based on a contextualized version of the K to 12 Basic Education Curriculum designed specifically to meet the learning needs and situations of Out of School Children, Youth and Adult (OSCYA).
The event was attended with very important personalities; to name with, DMW Diplomat Marie Rose C. Escalada, Regional ALS Focal Person Dr. Maricel S. Langahid, Davao del Sur SDS Dr. Lorenzo E. Mendoza, ASDS Dr. Janeth Veloso, CID Chief Cherelyn Cometa, Division LRMDS Focal Person Christopher Felipe, Division ALS Focal Person Dr. Eric C. Tubat, PSDS of Magsaysay North Dr. Elizabeth A. Bernaldez, school heads and ALS coordinators from different secondary schools of Davao del Sur. The principal of the school Mrs. Sylvia A. Fernandez led the said event together with Assist. Principal in the SHS Dr. Sharyll Mae A. Alboña, teachers, ALS teachers and other stakeholders of the said institution.
During the program, all the dignitaries were given time to give message about the Project ALShore. Dr. Sharyll Mae Alboña gave her sincere words of welcome to the guests and visitors. She also shared the rationale and objectives of this project. She stressed out how important it is to help our Filipino migrants and workers who want to graduate in secondary level.
Mary Rose Escalada, Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) Diplomat expressed her gratitude to the DepEd Davao del Sur that initiated the project and as partner, she promised that she would do her best to fully support since the target clients or learners are the overseas workers/migrants who are also the primary concern of her Office.
Dr. Maricel Langahid, Regional ALS Focal Person stated that as an ALS teacher before, she has heart for those OSCYA. She added that teachers must understand the different situations of the learners and project ALShore can be of great help to them especially those with special cases and circumstances that made her undoubtedly recognized this project when it was presented to the Region office.
Furthermore, SDS Dr. Lorenzo Mendoza delivered an impassioned address highlighting Project ALSHORE's transformative potential, emphasizing its ripple effect on the educational landscape. He pointed out that in DepEd, inclusive education is very important “wherever the students, they could still continue their education, so DepEd must reach out learners despite their geographical location”.
According to ASDS Dr. Janeth Veloso, “our division is now creating new ways in educating our learners” specifically those who are living overseas. She was greatly amazed with the project and expressed her grateful appreciation to all the people behind the success of this strategy.
Dr. Eric C. Tubat conveyed profound gratitude to the assembled supportive participants, partners, and stakeholders whose intensive efforts brought both the event's success and the realization of Project ALSHORE.
CID Chief Cherelyn Cometa stated that she would still support the project even though she would be retiring soon.

Reminiscing a memorable chapter brimming with development, camaraderie, and limitless opportunity for the ALS graduates.
It was a bittersweet moment as the respective institution witnessed the graduates take their final steps across the stage.
The dedicated educators of the each institution beam with pride who have had the privilege of guiding and molding these
remarkable minds through their ALS journey.
This momentous event was concluded last July 20, 2023 at Davao del Sur Coliseum, Matti, Digos City, Davao del Sur and
was attended by Dr. Maricel S. Langahid (ALS Region XI Focal), Lorenzo E. Mendoza, CESO V (Schools Division Supervisor),
Janeth G. Veloso, CESO VI (Assistant Schools Division Supervisor), Dr. Eric Tubat (Division ALS Focal),
Davao del Sur School heads and ALS Teachers, Hon. Ronnie L. Sarande (Magsaysay Municipal Mayor) and other
government officials.

Regional Training of ALS Teachers on the implementation of the Alternative Learning System Senior High School on the Most Essential Learning Competencies-Based Curriculum. Dated July 11-14, 2023 and held at Ritz Hotel, Porras St., Bo Obrero, Davao City.
During this training, Alternative Learning System Regional Director Allan Farnazo challenges ALS SHS instructors to rebuild lives of learners.
ALSHORE Program Presentation held at the Division Office of Davao del Sur, Padada, Davao del Sur,
last March 29, 2023. The said program was presented to the new Schools Division Superintendent,
Lorenzo E. Mendoza, CESO V and was been whole heartedly appreciated.

and their team deserves to be continued going into the formal launching and actual implementation in
